Bio

Composer Ishay Brokshtain (b. 1995, Israel) is an emerging voice in contemporary music whose work explores texture, gesture, and the expressive possibilities of sound. His music has been performed internationally by ensembles such as the Meitar, IEMA, and Loadbang, and featured at festivals including Impuls in Graz. Currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts in Composition at the Manhattan School of Music with Dr. Reiko Füting, Ishay previously studied at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance with Dr. Yair Klartag and Dr. Ziv Cojocaru, supported by the Siday Fellowship for Musical Creativity. Drawing inspiration from nature, science, and diverse musical traditions, his work engages with both traditional and experimental practices through a focus on process and sound exploration.

In addition to experimental, contemporary music, I also write film scores, arrange songs, and teach. In recent years I have been teaching piano, music theory, aural skills, composition and improvisation at various institutions in Israel and at Manhattan School of music.
